The $100 Startup
I first read this book (affiliate link) several years ago. Read may not be completely accurate, I listened to the audiobook version from Audible. It is a book I “read” over and over again for inspiration. I think it’s invaluable to beginning entrepreneurs so I’m writing this post on The $100 Startup to help you see why I think it is valuable.
It caught my attention when I was browsing through business books and I was feeling a little uninspired. I’m glad it did because it was just the thing I needed to help get my creativity flowing.
Overview
The $100 Startup is a collection of case studies of both passive income and side hustles. There is a wide collection ranging from bicycle mattress delivery to moonlighting executives providing travel hacking services. Each case study gives you the strategies, tactics, and background of the venture and some insight into the relative success of each.
The entire collection is wrapped together with overarching themes of exploration, experimentation, and inspiration. Chris Guillebeau does an excellent job of teaching through the parables in this book. You learn to open your eyes for opportunity and take action to move forward.
Recommendation
I whole heartedly recommend The $100 Startup for beginning entrepreneurs. It provides both inspiration and motivation to those getting started on their journey.
For the more experienced entrepreneur, some of the lessons may have already been learned, but this book treats them in a way that their review should feel fresh to the reader. Regardless, the inspiration that The $100 Startup provides is valuable to any entrepreneur at any stage.
If this book is not in your library it should be.
